My first time cooking online

Gabi Ruijten-Dodoiu • May 10, 2020

Last month, I have been sharing my take on healthy cooking in online workshops, allowing me to reach many people from my own kitchen.

The “Well-being weeks” workshops organized by International Creative Women gave me a chance to experience two ‘firsts’: the first time to do a cooking workshop online; and the first time being in front of a camera with an audience. Even though I was quite nervous before going “live”, I got a lot of pleasure from giving these workshops, especially when noticing how many people had been joining me from their own kitchen, asking questions, and simply connecting around the topic of food.

What did we cook? During the first workshop we started with a smoothie full of vitamin C, followed by a veggie-filled crustless quiche, and a banana bread (gluten free).

The second time, we cooked a stuffed tomato with a self-made pesto (my “Happy Tomato”) and a tomato salad with self-pickled onion.

On my third workshop, we prepared a dinner: sweet potato moussaka, a side salad, and a healthy snack made of chickpeas.

It may not be the same experience as a face-to-face workshop, but the ability to connect with other people caring about their nutrition and having tasty meals, especially in these times, is priceless!

Hope to see you in one of my next workshops! Gabi.

How did it work?
After subscribing (for free), everyone received a list of ingredients needed for the menu (with potential substitutes, to prevent sending everyone out for groceries). During one and a half hour on ZOOM we prepared a healthy and fully plant-based lunch or dinner (with options for those who wanted to add some cheese or eggs).
